Dramatic Photos of What an Undetected Water Damage Can Do to Your Rugs! – Prescott Valley AZ

Here is a lovely machine-made rug that was made in Germany that was lying on the floor of a client’s home and suffered from a water damage.  Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care and you might be asking yourself HOW did this happen!?

A few months prior, the roof leaked at this client’s home.  Rain waters came through the roof and soaked the home.  Either someone didn’t catch that this rug had also gotten wet or perhaps they decided the rug would dry just fine in place.  These photos show damage that happened under the furniture along the wall.  It’s obvious that the rug remained wet for a long time, thus allowing mold and dry rot to occur.  This is a fairly large area rug that covered most of a small room and there was a lot of furniture (couch, desk, TV, etc.) that covered a large portion of this rug.  Sure, it was a hassle to move all of this furniture to remove the rug, but if someone had done this at the time of the leaking roof then this rug could have been dried properly without suffering these damages.  I’ve written previously about the damage that can occur when a rug is wet for too long.  Bleeding dyes, musty odors, mold growth followed by dry rot in severe cases like this.

Unfortunately, we only discovered this damage at the time we were called in to remove the rug and take it back to our rug washing plant for a cleaning.

The homeowner contacted their insurance and now we are going through the process of helping the owner obtaining an appraisal for replacement value as well as potential repairs.
