I can’t tell you how many times that we here at Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care have had a rug come into us for cleaning that has uneven wear and tear all over it.  Unfortunately, this wear and tear doesn’t magically clean out of rugs.  This is due to the fibers in these wear areas simply being more worn than the fibers in other areas of the rug.

Today, my area rug tip is simple.  Remember to turn your rug 180 degrees often enough so that the everyday traffic pattern is distributed more evenly over your rug.  Arizona Oriental recommends this process be done every 6 months.  Consider including this as part of your deep spring and fall cleaning when you’ve already got your cleaning gal washing windows, wiping down the baseboards, etc.  Another ideal time is when we take your rug to our shop for a thorough deep cleaning, we can assist in turning the rug when we deliver it back to your home and set it up for you.

These few extra steps with the care of your area rug(s) will help to ensure that your rugs look their best longer.
