Sedona AZ – How to Protect Your Pets (and Rugs) from Fireworks this Independence Day

Sedona AZ – How to Protect Your Pets (and Rugs) from Fireworks this Independence Day

We always hear the news reports every year, reminding us that our pets tend to get scared by the loud, booming firework noises.  They always advise keeping the pets inside and not leaving them in the back yard so they don’t get really upset or possibly run away in trying to find cover from this scary noise.

Ruthie with Arizona Oriental here and I agree that we do need to protect our pets.  The noise is much less frightening in our homes, after all.  However, you should also keep in mind that they will still be able to hear the loud bangs and will likely still be frightened.  So not only should you protect your pets further in your home, but you should also protect your area rugs.  Yes, your area rugs!

It’s pretty common for nervous animals to have the bad habit of urinating.  Giving a nervous animal access to your beloved area rugs may leave you disappointed when you find a puddle of urine on said area rug.  I’m not entirely sure why dogs always head straight for the softness of area rugs when it comes to having accidents, but they do.

It may be best to choose to quarantine your dog in a single room of your home instead of giving them full reign.  A room with a hard surface floor, their bed, and maybe some soft music to help lessen the roar of the fireworks may work best to help calm your animal friend and prevent any unwanted accidents on your area rugs.

If your area rug does happen to be on the receiving end of an animal accident, you should call your local professional area rug washers and have your rug cleaned as soon as possible to prevent further damage.  At Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care, we specialize in the removal of animal urine in Persian and Oriental wool and silk rugs, as well as all types of rugs.  We can also eliminate those urine odors, too!

Happy 4th of July wishes to both you and your pets!

Till next time, enjoy your beautiful art for your floors and remember a clean rug is a rug that can last you a lifetime!
