What You Need to Know about the Loose Yarn on Your Area Rug - Prescott Valley AZ
It’s Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care once again and I’m always more than happy to provide rug care tips from time to time! Have you noticed a loose yarn or two (or maybe more) in your area rug poking up at you?
If your rug has a plush pile, then you can snip it off without harming the rug. Without pulling it up further, use a pair of curved nail scissors to snip the top of the loose yarn. Easy peasey!
However, if your area rug has looped face fibers (like a flatweave American Indian rug) and a loop has been snagged and pulled up, NEVER CUT IT OFF! In these types of rugs, the loops are continuous and snipping it away will break the continuous thread. This of course means that the rug will unravel. While yarn pulls might seem unsightly to you now, just wait until your rug begins unravelling!
