What's in Your Living Room Area Rug?
Hi folks, Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care in Prescott AZ! I have a big question for you today: do you know what's lurking inside of your living room area rug? I'm betting that most of you really don't!
Area rugs act as our home’s filter! They catch everything that you bring into your home on your feet - from dust and soil to pollen and germs. Rugs collect these things within their fibers over time like a kid in the candy store. It usually isn’t until our allergies start acting up or we see that our rugs are looking a little dingy that we figure it’s probably time for a good cleaning.
But let me tell you - that’s not what you should do! You should NEVER wait until your area rug starts showing traffic patterns on it before you have it professionally cleaned! Just take a look at all of the dust and dry soil that came out of one of our client’s rugs when we simply flipped it over during our inspection!
Area rugs should be professionally cleaned by someone like us at Arizona Oriental every 1-3 years depending on how much traffic they see in your home. You should also keep up with regular vacuuming to prevent dry soil from working its way down into the base of your rug and to prevent dry soil build up like the rug pictured here in this article!
