Why Does Chino Valley Rug Cleaner Do Dye Migration Testing?

Hi, folks! Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care here in Prescott.

I thought I’d end the week talking about one of the essential steps in the pre-inspection process for rug cleaning because not doing it at home can lead to you damaging your rug. I’m talking about the dye migration test!

Here you can learn why a professional Chino Valley rug cleaning company will always carry this out before going any further.

What Happens in Dye Migration Tests?

The first thing we always do when area rugs come into our store here at Arizona Oriental is to pre-inspect the rug to determine the exact condition. This enables our specialist rug cleaning technicians to determine what cleaning method is best for each rug. This way, every rug in the region that comes through our facility gestures precisely what it needs!

In our pre-inspection process, though, there is another step involved, which is probably the most important step of them all! Sure, on each of the rugs, we look for pre-existing conditions, but the BIG question on these rugs is always whether the colors are stable.

Our dye migration test is performed on each area rug to help stabilize the cleaning colors to determine if the colors are stable or if they need to be pre-treated. Color bleeding is a sign that during manufacturing, the colors were not set correctly.

What Happens After Chino Valley Dye Migration Tests?

When the results of the dye migration come back negative, then there is nothing to worry about! However, we need to know if the rug needs to be pre-treated to help stabilize the colors and prevent them from bleeding in the washing process!

Our pre-treatment should lock colors into their dye sites so that when we clean them, they do not move. For almost every rug, this treatment is beneficial, and we rarely have any problems preventing colors from moving.

This is one of the most significant steps in our cleaning and pre-cleaning inspection process, as you can see! Ensuring we know if the colors are stable doesn’t make a difference to the world when cleaning a rug.

Do not clean your area rugs in your home and risk migrating and bleeding the dyes into the rest of the rug!

Alternatively, have your rugs cleaned by the professionals at Arizona Oriental, where we always test every color for stability on every rug!
